QUALIFYING FOR GOD’S WORK
MAIN TEXT 2 Timothy 2:21
If anyman cleanses himself from the latter, he will be an instruments for noble purposes, made holy, useful to the master and prepared to do any good work.
1 Peter 5:2 – Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, serving as overseers-not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money but eager to serve
To work for God, you must possess a certain level of divine competency. God has a standard which everyone must attain before they can be used by God. Everyone who wants to work must do the following:
- Sanctify yourself: God doesn’t inhabit in an unclean man and as such he will not use him. To be made ready for the master’s use, cleanse and consecrate yourself unto God. He’ll come in and dwell in you.
- Be sacrifice minded: God’s work requires high level of selflessness. That’s why Jesus said, “If you must follow Him, you must deny yourself”. Place God and His work above your personal needs and desires.
- Willingness to obey God: The Joy of total obedience to God is in understanding what God wants us to do at any particular time. Be ready and willing to run with the message that God has given you. It is an act of service and worship unto God when we listen and obey him without questions. He is delighted in our commitment to obey his command.
God is not asking for any degree on paper but He is pleased when we whole heartedly declare and volunteer to work for the kingdom to enlarge and increase it.
WORK WHERE GOD SENDS YOU AND YOU WILL BE FULFILLED
