AN APPETITE FOR GOD’S WORD
Main Text: 1 Peter 2:2 “like newborn babies crave pure spiritual milk, so that
by it you may grow up in your salvation”.
Joshua 1:8 – “Do not let this Book of the law depart from your mouth, meditate on it day and night, so, you be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
Presently, we see God through his word. The revealed word of God which is rhema, gives us revelation of who God is whenever we receive it An appetite for God’s word means hunger or thirst as the case may be of God’s word creates I us the desire to read, study and listen to God’s word to us.
You still wonder why you should thirst for the word? Here are why; the bible
contains the mind of God, the state of man, way of salvation, doom of sinners and happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true and its decisions are immutable. Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe and practice it to be holy.
It contains light to direct you, food to support you and comfort to cheer you. It.s only as we hunger for God.s word that we receive the truth in it. And only the truth from the word of God has the power to set us free from sin, demonic bondage and destructive self will.
It should rule your heart, fill your memory and guide your feet. Read it with
understanding, frequently and prayerfully because it is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory and a river of pleasure. It involves the highest responsibility, will reward the greatest labour and will condemn all who trifle with its sacred contents.
WHEN YOU HUNGER FOR THE WORD OF GOD, YOU’LL BE FILLED.
