Skilled in God’s Word
Main Text: Proverbs 4:20-22 “My son, attend to my words, incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes, keep them in the midst of thine heart, for they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh”.
John 6:63 “The words I speak unto you, they are life, and they are Spirit”.
Beloved of God, be skilled in God’s word. Skilled means to have enough knowledge, enough ability and enough experience. The book of John 1:1 describes the word of God as God Himself. This implies that, since God is the Almighty, the word of God is also Almighty. It is therefore dangerous to take the word of God for granted or make it unimportant. The power of the word of God was demonstrated at the creation of the world. The Almighty God spoke the word and the word produced the entire universe. The word of God is the life-giving force of the Spirit. The word of God is like the physical heart that pumps blood to all parts of the body. Every blessing of God is available to the believer, through the word of God. You get saved by the word, (1 Peter 1:23); healed by the word (Psalm 107:20); delivered and set-free by the word (John 8:32); purified by the word (Ephesians 5:26); guided by the word (Psalm 119:105); and renewed in the mind by the word of God (Romans 12:1-2). The word on the lips of the believer, saves lost men, brings courage and victory where defeat has reigned as a King produces faith in faithless circumstance and hope in hopeless situations. When you know how to rightly divide the word, you will be able to administer the right kind of spiritual medicine. You will need to operate in the realm of the Spirit by the word of God, Proverbs 4:10, declares this “Hear O my son, and receive my sayings, and the years of they life shall be many”.
