COVET GODLINESS

COVET GODLINESS

Main text: 1 TIMOTHY 4:8 – For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of this life that now is, and of that which is to come.

2 TIMOTHY 3:5 – Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such, turn away.

Beloved, Covet godliness which is synonymous to being Christ-like and living a life of holiness. One is considered godly when he or she has the nature of God – godliness is much more than looking holy or acting holy rather, it is a lifestyle.

It is unfortunate that in the church today, there are more religious people who castigate others and do worst sins in their secret places than godly people. If you find it difficult to love the people you preach the gospel of salvation to, you are practicing religion and not godliness.

For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him, shall nor perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16). Even with the sinful nature of the world, God showed us love and went on to sacrifice His son for our redemption. God desire that we walk in godliness. An example of a man who was godly is Enoch (Genesis 5:24).

Enoch walked in holiness and godliness that God took him from this earth (He never saw death). Abraham is another good example: God told him to leave his father’s land and country, unto a country that He will show him – for the sake of godliness and holy living. The God we serve demands this from us because He is a jealous God and He has a standard which cannot be boycotted.

I encourage you today to make a decision to live a godly life from today. Do not compromise your Christian faith but guard it with all diligence to the instruction of God from the bible.
