MAINN TEXT: 1 SAMUEL 15:22 – But Samuel replied, does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.

NUMBER 22:12 And God said unto Balaam, thou shalt not go with them, thou shalt not curse the people for they are blessed.

God created man in his own image and likeness and made man to be a free moral being. There was nothing God withheld from man except to obey His commandments. Everything that God created was made to follow the way of God and God rewards obedience.

Pride made Lucifer to disobey God and he lost his place in heaven – Ezekiel 28:15. The desire to please the flesh and become wise caused Adam and Eve to disobey God and they lost their place in the Garden of Eden – Genesis 3:22-23. Lust for material wealth caused Judas Iscariot to betray his master and he lost his place among the disciples of Jesus Christ. John 18:2-3.

For fear not to lose the battle, King Saul offered he sacrifice meant for the priest, Samuel. Thereafter, God removed him as King in Israel. When he argued in favour of his action, Samuel told him that God demands Obedience more than sacrifice.

Child of God, remember that God is the same, what he demanded from people in the past is still the same that he demands from us today. And each obedience carries reward. The book of Joshua admonishes us to obey the commandments of God so that we will be prosperous and successful in everything – Joshua 1:8.

PRAYER: I pray that my heart will be willing to always obey God and my obedient actions will fetch a great reward for me.
