DON’T PERMIT DEPRESSION

Main text: why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall yet praise Him, the help of my countenance and my God. – Psalm 43: 5 (KJV)

Rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer – Romans 12:12 (KJV)

Going through a period of hard time for a long time can lead to depression if care is neglected. We can only show care through prayer and steadfast desire for God through bible study. The devil paints in our minds, the picture of ‘no return’ but God reassures us that He’s aware and is able to turn things around for our good (Romans 12:12).

Being depressed cannot solve the problem we are passing rather it suppresses the voice of hope and darkens your mind to the light. When David was pursued to be killed by King Saul in the bible, the scripture explains that David moved from cave to cave in search of shelter and security (1 Samuel 24). Being in the shoes of David is capable to cause loneliness and depression – away from the ones we love, family and friends under harsh weather conditions because of the threat to his life.

Despite this, David believed the Lord for his salvation and hence, saw the mighty hand of God deliver him (Psalm 121). Depression makes one loose focus and the will power to achieve goals. Depression disconnects you from God who holds the power to change that predicament. The absence of light (hope) brings about darkness (despair and hopelessness). The bible admonishes us that the mind is the seat of wisdom and wisdom they say is the application of knowledge.

When your mind is beclouded by regrets and sorrow of the past or the present, focus and hope is far away. Embrace the light of God by hope and ‘all things shall work together for your good’.

CLEAR YOUR MIND OF NEGATIVE THOUGHT AND EMBRACE POSITIVITY OF MIND.

Prayer point: Oh! God, shine your light on me to rescue me from depression in Jesus name. Amen
