HONOUR SPIRITUAL PARENTS
Main text: Ephesians 6:1-2 – Children obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. I know your father and mother, which is the first commandment with promise.
Proverbs 20:20 –Whoso curseth his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness.
Obedience to parents in the Lord is right before God. The honour with obedience is the first commandment with a promise from God. The promise says that our days in the world will be fulfilled. The parents in the Lord are our guide to the path that God has made for us. They are endowed by God with wisdom, love and great power to make sure that we live fulfilled in life and ministry.
In the holy Bible, it is written that anybody who causes his father or mother, his light shall be put out in obscure darkness. There are many people who are walking aimlessly in perpetual darkness for years without any direction. If a man’s lamp is put out, he may think that he is making a meaningful walk but not knowing that he is heading to destruction.
There are many ways to curse a spiritual parent. Some of us need to trace our ways back to them for reconciliation. Even if you are a great preacher of the gospel, your spiritual parents might be a calm Christian man or woman who is not a pastor but you must honour them for a fulfilled life.
