DO THE WORD

DO THE WORD

Main text: James 1:22 – 23: But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror.

Luke 11:28 – Jesus replied, “But even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice.”

The word Do is an active word that connotes action. Jesus said it all in Luke 11:28 and I paraphrase – ‘Put into practice every word of God you hear’. God’s word is like a pill that you need to swallow (Do) everything. From our main text, when we go contrary to the word of God and not obey His commands, the bible likens us to a man who forgets how his face looks immediately after looking into the mirror.

When we obey God’s word in practice, we are more blessed than those who don’t – The words of Christ. In the scriptures, we are likened to a sheep in God’s kingdom because we should not be led by our minds (flesh) but rather be led by the mind of Christ who is our shepherd. Everyday that we see, we must strive to do only the will of God just as Christ because God expects nothing short of that from us. The Holy Spirit in us will help us Do the will (word) of the father (God).

GOD REQUIRES US TO YIELD TO HIS COMMANDS DAILY

Prayer: Holy Spirit, help me to understand your words that you speak to me as they come and may I crave to do your will daily in Jesus name. Amen
