RUN TOWARDS THE GOAL
MAIN TEXT: 2 Chronicles 15: 7
“Be ye strong, therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded.”
“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before.” Philippians 3:13
Athletes in a race are usually surrounded with rows of spectators who are there to cheer or daunt them. However, a runner who is goal minded does not look behind in order to avoid dangers that come in front of him. Rather, he fixes his eyes on the prize ahead.
This is unique about how Christian runner runs for an eternal goal. Warren Wiersbe, has this to say, “Each believer is on the track, each has a goal to achieve…….” while we may glance at the great cloud of witnesses who have ran the race before us according to Hebrews 12:1, men and women of God whose faithful lives were recorded in the old Testament. We then ought to rid ourselves of every entanglement such as thoughts, attitudes and habits that impede our progress.
In this last quarter of the year, as we expect the second coming of the Lord, let us therefore be strong again and refuse to be satisfied with were we are. Get back on the course and run with perseverance for the prize of eternal life ahead of us.
FIX YOUR EYES ON CHRIST, THE AUTHOR AND FINISHER OF OUR FAITH.
PRAYER: My God and My Confidant. I need more grace to be focus as I run this race in Jesus Name!
