THE BEST WAY FOR YOUR CHILD
Main text: Deuteronomy 6:7 (KJV) – “And thou shall teach them diligently unto thy children and shall talk of them when thou sittest in thine house and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
Second text: Proverbs 22:6 (KJV) – “Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it”.
Though there are hundreds of sermons preached on family issues, yet it’s hard to find a home where children are actually growing in godly way. Many mothers have prayed using our inside text over wayward children.
This scripture says “Train up a child and not send a child to the church”. Though the latter is very important, it is not the heart of the matter. The idea is that the direction in which the beginner is set will define the rest of his life – teach them right.
Note that your children will not turn out right unless you become a teacher whether qualified teacher or not! Parents lead your children in daily morning devotion, talking about God’s word and laws for it to stick into their hearts.
Learn to spend quality time with them. David always had time to teach Solomon the wisdom of God. He stirred up his son’s desire for God’s wisdom. As a father, how often do you spend time to teach and pray together with each of your children weekly?
As a mother, learn from Susanna Wesley who raised 14 children in godly way, by spending quality time with each child weekly to pray and teach God’s word.
