PATIENCE IS VERY IMPORTANT

MAIN TEXT: James 1:3–4 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

Proverbs 16:32—Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.

Romans 8:244-25 “For in this hope we were saved. Now, hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.” It’s important not to confuse waiting with patience. Just because you have to wait doesn’t mean that you are any more patient than before. It’s in the waiting that you find out the quality of patience that you possess.

One of the missing ingredients to receiving from God is that little word, “patience.” I think few Christians realize its importance! You need patience to be an overcomer. Some things don’t happen overnight, and it takes patience to get there. When you are sure that God is with you and the devil comes to mock you during your waiting period, you need to confess positively, “God says it, and I believe. Therefore, it will happen.”

Joyce Meyer noted, “Patience is not the ability to wait, but how you act while you’re waiting.” Our attitude while waiting may hinder the fulfillment of God’s promise or hasten it. As you patiently wait for God, don’t seek help from “strange places” that God hates.

PUT YOUR ABSOLUTE TRUST IN GOD

PRAYER: Holy Spirit, teach me to patiently wait for God and the right attitude while waiting. Grant me the grace of discernment in my life pursuits, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
