Main text: Hebrew 9:15 – Christ is the mediator of a new covenant that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance.
I Corinthians 15:57 – But thanks be to God, who giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
According to Hebrew 9:22, there could be no forgiveness without the shedding of blood. Hence in the old covenant, God accepted the blood of animals, for the forgiveness of sins of the people. This covenant served at that time and was only temporary as it only ensured an outward cleansing only.
In the new covenant, God created a more permanent cleansing by giving His only begotten son who came to the world and poured His blood at Calvary for a permanent remission of our sins. 1John 1:7 confirms that “the blood of Jesus Christ His son purifies us from all sin”. Now therefore whenever a person cries out in faith to God, repenting of his sins and pleading for forgiveness, God listens and answers him.
We should therefore as Christians be deeply grateful that Jesus Christ was willing to die on the cross, give his blood as ransom for our sins so that forgiveness and victory was available when needed. When Jesus Christ died on the cross, His sacrifice was more than adequate to atone for the sin of all people. The only way to approach God is on His terms, and we must receive the forgiveness He offers us through the blood of Jesus Christ.
Have you accepted Jesus Christ – the lamb who takes away the sins of the world as your Lord and saviour? Delay may be very dangerous; for today is the day of salvation.
We don’t need to be bowed down with our sins. As we embrace the freedom of righteousness through faith in Jesus Christ, we can hold our head high and keep walking tall in victory.
