DON’T WORK WITHOUT YOUR SPIRITUAL COVER

DON’T WORK WITHOUT YOUR SPIRITUAL COVER

MAIN TEXT: GENESIS 3:7 – Then the eyes of both of them were opened and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.

2 Kings 2:12

Elisha saw this and cried out, My Father! My Father! The chariots and horsemen of Israel! And Elisha saw him no more. Then he took hold of his garment and tore it in two.

Our spiritual covering is the glory of God upon us. It signifies our authority in Christ. Every day of our life is a war and without a spiritual covering we are putting our lives in danger. Adam and Eve had this spiritual cover and the glory of God but they traded it for sin when they disobeyed GOD and chose to have pleasures against the will of God for them. Immediately, the glory of God was removed and they saw nakedness, weakness and powerlessness. When we sin against God, we simply remove our divine glory and tell the demons that we are vulnerable.

In the case of Prophet Elijah and Prophet Elisha; Elisha saw the need to be alert to watch when his Master will leave him, but all he wanted was the Spirit or the glory of the Lord in the covering or cloak of Elijah and he got it. He tore it into two signifying double anointing and divine glory. He knew that he needs the authority to function as a prophet of God 2 Kings 2:13 – Elisha then picked up Elijah’s cloak that had fallen from him and went back and stood on the bank of the Jordan.

Sin has the power to remove our spiritual cover which makes the person empty and powerless. Spiritual slumber is another issue that brings gradual sliding away from the place of authority. Many Christians that lived their lives with the deceitful saying of “it does not matter” can no longer find their feet in the faith of Christ.

ARE YOU STANDING NAKED AND EMPTY IN SPIRITUAL WARFARE?

PRAYER: In Jesus name, Lord Jesus have mercy on me. Do not take the Holy Spirit away from me, restore my spiritual cover
