SEEK DIVINE WISDOM
Main text: James 1:5(NKJV) – if any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it shall be given to him.
Proverbs 2:6- For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth comes knowledge and understanding.
Wisdom is defined as the application of knowledge but the kind of wisdom we are discussing is divine wisdom. This kind of wisdom which is divine and comes from God is beyond the application of what one already knows. This kind of wisdom is the kind God gives to solve a problem or maneuver through life and it is not pre-known. Daniel 2:23(NKJV) – ‘I thank you and praise you, O God of my fathers; you have given me wisdom and might, and have now made known to us the King’s demands’. This kind of wisdom was exhibited in the life of King Solomon as we know what great works God performed through him with this divine wisdom.
Wisdom should be the most sought out for. A rich man without wisdom will end up poor, but a poor man with wisdom will build wealth for himself and posterity over time. Wisdom instructs, it guides, rebukes, teaches and directs. Wisdom tells you the difference between your seed and your bread and also tells you when, where and how to sow/invest for bumper harvest. Wisdom teaches you when to talk and when to keep mute. A man of wisdom is not destroyed suddenly. When God bestows this kind of wisdom on you, you will navigate through life and be able to solve every challenge that comes your way like King Solomon did.
This wisdom is divine, it is not gotten from books, but can only be given by God, and He is willing and eager to release this wisdom to all who ask. The question is: How desperate are you to receive this wisdom from God? James 1:6 instructs us on how we should ask – ‘But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he that who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind’.
