GOD’S WORD, FOOD FOR THE SOUL
Main Text: Hebrews 4:12 ‘For the word of God is quick, and powerful and sharper than any knowledge sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (NIV).
Deut. 8:13- ‘He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna which neither you nor your fathers had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord’
As the body needs physical food and depends on it for strength, so the soul requires the word of God to remain strong. Of all the words ever spoken, only the word of God is alive and powerful. So when you read it, you tap into a life-changing force. When you’re thoroughly equipped with the word of God, your chance of failure become zero.
When you feel it with enough word of God, it receives power to resist the devil. It needs to be fed daily with the word of God which is adequate and able to accomplish God’s purposes in your life. It refreshes the soul. You can really count on the accuracy of God’s word in every circumstance of life in a world of changing values, conditions and relationships, you can place your full weight on the word of God, be confident, it will hold up.
When you rely on God’s word,, you have a sure foundation- truth that can be trusted- power that imparts new life and release grace by which you can grow in faith and commitment. When you go through chaotic experience, God’s word gives you stability.
