WISDOM IS PROFITABLE TO DIRECT
Ecclesiastes 10:10 – “If the iron be blunt, and he do not whet the edge, then must he put to more strength: but wisdom is profitable to direct.”
James 1:5 – If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
This particular scripture is referring to the axe that has lost its edge and requires more strength to cut with it. It is wise to keep all tools sharpened ahead of time, so that when we do need them, they are ready for use and will easily accomplish the task at hand.
“Wisdom is profitable to direct” simply means that using prudence, shrewdness, and skillfulness in our daily affairs gives us the advantage, a gain, the excellency, and brings success.
Many people start doing things without considering whether they are wise things to do or if they are actually doing that thing wisely. Consider this scripture: Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding,
for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold – Proverbs 3:13-14.
