THE STILL SMALL VOICE
MAIN TEXT: 1 Kings 19:11-12
And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord. And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake:
And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.
1 Samuel 3:10—And the Lord came and stood and called as at the other times, Samuel, Samuel then Samuel answered, “speak for thy servant heath”.
The Lord’s voice was not in the wind, neither was it in the earthquake, nor was it in the fire, but His voice came as a still voice. How many Christian today are ready to listen to that still small voice? If Samuel had not listened, he would not have answered God’s calling; he listened because he was connected to His maker, he was very sensitive in his spirit man to be able to hear. But today, many Christians are too busy and worried with life’s activities that they don’t hear when God is speaking.
Remember, the scripture says that He will guide us in what path to take, but are you willing and ready to listen? Those times you think God is speaking might not be when He is talking to you because God’s ways are not our ways. But His ways can be revealed to you only if you are willing to surrender and connect your spirit man to listen when He speaks to you in that still small voice.
To hear Him speak, don’t be anxious and be conscious of God’s presence in your life. The consciousness of His presence will help us so much in our relationship with God, and this will surely strengthen communication.
