BEARING GOOD FRUIT

BEARING GOOD FRUIT

Main Text: Matthew 7.17-20

Even so every tree bringeth forth good fruit, but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit; neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruit, ye shall know them.

JOHN 15:5 – I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing

I have come to let you know today that you are God’s tree planted in his garden/field. He expects you to grow into a good tree and produce the right fruit. In producing the right fruit, you must understand the enemy of this tree. In our spiritual warfare, the enemies are Satan, the world and the flesh. This is
because man in raw state that is without Christ is likened to a field that is taken over or covered with weeds that are destructive, competitive and most times, difficult to control.

The bible refers to fruit as the person’s outward action that results from the condition of the heart. What type of fruit do you produce? Do you produce edible, sweet, seed-producing fruit or sour, seedless, inedible fruit of wickedness, immorality and all kinds of evil vices?

As God’s tree, He expects you to be producing not just fruit but good fruits. If you are using today’s devotional and you have not been producing good fruit then, now is the right time to make the wise decision by accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal saviour and put on the whole amour of God (Ephesians 6.10-18). As you do this, the Holy Spirit will empower you to produce fruit which is love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance. It is necessary to make this decision now because any tree that doesn’t produce fruit will be cut down and thrown into
the fire. But if you are born again, you are encouraged to keep pressing on towards the mark of the higher calling of God in Christ Jesus.
