RUN TO FINISH
MAIN TEXT: 2 Timothy 4:7
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith”.
2 Timothy 4:8 – “Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only; but unto all them also that love his appearing (KJV).
Do you know that in a race, many runners run, but only few receive the prize? So run that you may obtain it. Since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witness, let us also lay aside every weight and sin which clings too closely, let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus the founder and finisher of our faith, who for the Joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and He is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
Beloved, perhaps you are not running well because something hindered you from obeying the truth. It is not too late to turn to Jesus now so that He will put you back on track. If only you can press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap if we do not give up.
Beloved, for you to run to finish well, you should not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the ways of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers. You must meditate on the word of God day and night so that you will be like a tree planted by streams of water that yield its fruit in its season and out of season and you shall prosper in all that you do.
LOOK TO JESUS, THE AUTHOR AND FINISHER OF YOUR FAITH.
