PRAYER FOR SELF-CONTROL
MAINTEXT: PSALM 141:2
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
Proverbs 29:11
A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.
Self-control is the control of oneself. It is the ability to master one’s desire and impulses. Also remember that self-control is one of the fruit of the Holy Spirit-Galatians 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the spirit is love, Joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness faith meekness, TEMPERANCE: against such there is no law”. We can try on our own to have self-control and fail severally but if we pray to God for this special endowment which is very important in the life of every Christian, He will release it to us.
A Christian without self-control can destroy all that God has used him to build in a day. Anointing without self-control can be destructive both to the carrier and the recipients. A father without self-control can destroy the beautiful family he has built for years.
The bible tells us in Proverbs 29:11 that one thing to know about a fool is that be utters his whole mind even to his enemies. We are encouraged to be wise in communication because we may not know who the unfriendly friend around us is. Do not announce your arrival before you arrive.
A MAN’S TONGUE CAN EITHER LEAD HIM TO LIFE OR DEATH.
Prayer Point: Oh God, help me to control my tongue and my mind from today in Jesus name.
