RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT
MAIN TEXT- JOHN 20:22
And when he had said this, he breathed on them and saith unto them, receive ye the Holy Ghost:
1 Thessalonians 5:19 – Quench not the spirit.
Praise the Lord, Alleluia! The first experience of the Christian life is salvation and it is the incoming of the Holy Spirit, through Jesus Christ, to give us new life, God’s life-Zoë life which is eternal life. The second experience is the receiving or out pouring of the Holy Spirit, so that Jesus can cause Him to pour out the new life from our spirit, to baptize our souls and bodies and then our world around with his refreshing and renewing grace.
We are like vessels, the salvation experience might get us fill but we need the outpouring of the Spirit of God upon our lives to run over. When we begin to run over with the anointing of the Holy Spirit, then we can energize, empower, impact and give life to our environment and people.
We need the Baptism in the Holy Spirit, John the Baptist immersed in water, but the one who is Christ Jesus will immerse us in the spirit of God. The water is not just enough until you get the real dose.
When this happens, we receive power and become Christ’s witnesses-Acts1:5. A Christian without power must pray for the baptism in the Holy Spirit today. Do not doubt in your spirit, ask and you shall receive Him especially when you pray in holiness and faith.
THE SPIRIT OF GOD UPON A CHRISTIAN MAKES HIM A GOD-MAN
PRAYER POINT-Lord prepare me a worthy vessel. Let the fullness of the Holy Spirit come upon me now.
