BE THE NEHEMIAH

BE THE NEHEMIAH

MAIN TEXT: NEHEMIAH 6:3C

So I sent messengers to them with this reply “I am carrying on a great project and cannot go down. Why should the work stop while I leave it and go down to you? (NIV).

Deuteronomy 6:5- ‘Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength”.

Who’s Nehemiah? What did he do to become a prominent figure and was mentioned in the scriptures?  Nehemiah was a key leader in the restoration of God’s people from Babylon to Jerusalem. He called for undivided loyalty to the work at hand in the same way that Jesus did when he said ‘Anyone who is not with me is against me, and anyone who does not gather with me scatter. (Luke 11:23) But he was also a slave serving a heathen king in Babylon, He never lost his status as a child of God, even though he enjoyed certain privileges from the king. He didn’t sell his birthright as a believer in exchange for a portion of the King’s meat. He didn’t lose himself in the pleasure of this world but maintained his integrity in the face of severe opposition from his colleagues.

This is the lesson: we should remain steadfast, positive and proactive in the face of impossibilities. Like Nehemiah, we should be resolute in our faith in God. Often times in this heavenly race, we are under attack by the devil, so we should not also allow him to use the magnitude of our problems to erase God’s faith, faithfulness and love from our minds.

DON’T LOSE FOCUS FROM THE ONLY ONE THAT MATTERS MOST- GOD ALMIGHTY.

PRAYER POINT-O God, may I not give up on you in the face of opposition. My faith in God, will deliver my miracles to me.
