TRUST AND OBEY
MAIN TEXT: JOHN 15:14
“Ye are my friends if you do whatever I command you”.
Proverb 3:5-6- Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And he shall direct your paths”.
Abraham’s heart surely pounded as he climbed with Isaac to the top of Mount Moriah. He had offered many sacrifices, but this one was different (see Genesis 22).
Abraham completely trusted and obeyed God. Because God saw that Abraham was completely surrendered to His will, He provided a ram to take Isaac’s place.
This is another year of greater expectations; are you willing to trust God and obey Him completely even with what is so precious to you? If you want God to fight all your battles this year and show you favour, you must be ready to offer more than spares of everything in your life. God wants to be Lord of everything about you. The desire of the Lord and His instructions for you this year may seem incredibly stupid, extremely dangerous and tough. Yet He expects you to trust and obey Him unconditionally. Are you willing?
For instance, it was at the time when the children of Israel were about to engage in a battle with Jericho that God instructed Joshua to circumcise all the men of war does it not sound ridiculous? See Joshua 5. But Joshua obeyed and trusted on the unfailing power of God for victory. He obeyed God’s command instead of giving in to human reasoning. Eventually, God used only shout to destroy Jericho. Only trust and obey.
GOD’S FAITHFULNESS IS SO MUCH BIGGER THAN ONE CIRCUMSTANCE!
