SACRIFICIAL GIVING

SACRIFICIAL GIVING

Main text: Genesis 4:3-4 – And in the process of time it came to pass that Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to the Lord. Abel also brought of the first born of his flock and their fat. And the Lord respected Abel and his offering.

Luke 21:4 – for they all out of their surplus put into the offering; but she out of her poverty put in all that she had to live on.

Sacrificial is coined out from the word ‘Sacrifice’. To sacrifice from the concise dictionary means to give away something valuable. From the min text above you can see how God respected Abel and his offering because it was an offering given sacrificially. The bible tells us that Abel gave sacrificially and with a right attitude. He (Abel) did not only give the first born of his flock but also he carefully chose the fat ones. When you give God, give your best because there are enormous blessings attached to such giving. Just like David in the bible (2 Samuel 24:24), ‘Do not give to the Lord that which will not cost you anything’.

Always give God cheerfully and not grudgingly. When you give, do not give God ‘the reject’ – something that is of no value or something you want to discard. He is the Almighty God and therefore deserves the best offering from us. Giving to God is a form of worship to Him. Therefore, when next you give to God, put the offering on a scale and weigh it; ask yourself whether the offering has value or not.

ALWAYS GIVE JOYFULLY TO THE LORD
