SIN IS A REPROACH

MAIN TEXT: Proverbs 14:34 “Righteousness exalteth a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.”

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Reproach means to bring shame or disgrace. God wants us to repent. Is your life of sin bringing disgrace to your church, your life, or family, but you chose to give your body the “destructive fun”? Today is the day of salvation, don’t wait to see the day of God’s anger and judgment because it will be irredeemable.

Hidden or unconfessed sin can reproach those who are engaged in God’s service; Inconsistent behavior is bad because it is a barrier that keeps the truth from being spread. A lover of strong drink, even moderately, can not teach the truth about drunkenness effectively. A man who curses with a filthy mouth, cannot effectively teach anyone on righteous speech. One who engages in lasciviousness cannot effectively teach purity in morals.

All such sins that hinder the spread of truth must be forsaken, confessed to God and asked for forgiveness. We cannot pretend that we do not live in this world, but neither should we forget that it is passing away. These things should make us long for the return of Christ and the coming of his kingdom in glory.

THE SOUL OF A SINNER CONSTANTLY CRIES FOR HELP, GIVE GOD THE CHANCE

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, have mercy on me, forgive my sins and give me the power to overcome the tempter. Amen. Take your time to confess those sins.
