FORGIVE AND LET GO

FORGIVE AND LET GO

Main text: Matthew 18:27 – ‘The king felt sorry for him, so he forgave him the debt and let him go’.

Forbearing one another and forgiving one another, if any man has a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. – Colossians 3:13

To forgive means to stop feeling angry with someone who annoyed, hurt or saddened you. Sometimes, one can also forgive himself. In the text above, the king first felt sorry for the man and then went further to let him go. Do not be like most people who say I have forgiven but I will not forget. Jesus demonstrated this feat at Calvary on the cross when He prayed to the father to forgive those that crucified him for their ignorance.

Forgiveness is a part of what Christ teaches and it forms one of the cores of the Christian faith. When you have truly forgiven someone who offended you, you should not hold it against the offender. Sometimes the offender may not even be sober and repentant of his sins but God expects us to forgive and let go. However, when we say let go, we do not insinuate that the memory should be erased which is impossible. It means that whenever we are relating with the offender in business, discussion or relationship, we should do so without grudges.

REMEMBER, WHEN YOU FORGIVE OTHERS, GOD FORGIVES YOU TOO

Prayer Point: Holy Spirit, teach me and help me to forgive my offenders.
