JOY OVERFLOWING
Main text: John 15:11 – I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow!
Romans 15:13 – I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Joy is an emotion evoked by satisfaction, appreciation and pleasure. Joy is something that everybody desires. It gladdens the heart, elongates life, highly infectious. Joy comes from within and radiates outwards. As a Christian, you can always generate joy from your spirit by making melodies and singing new songs from your heart to the Lord. Joy comes from having a living relationship with God. It comes from knowing this world is only temporary and that someday we will be with God forever. It comes from the fact that, although we do not yet see God, we “believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy” (1 Peter 1:8).
As Christians, part of our inheritance in Christ is for our joy to continuously overflow. The joy that you have is not of this world but of God.
Therefore, it is independent of external circumstances. 1 Peter 1:8 describes it as ‘joy unspeakable and full of Glory’. When you allow His word abide in you, you don’t allow afflictions and tribulations to steal your joy away because His word has already assured us that “we should be of good cheer, because He has overcome the world” (John 16:33) which means that the end of that affliction or tribulation is already known.
ALLOW THE JOY OF THE LORD TO BUILD YOU UP, ACCEPT WHAT GOD SAYS ABOUT YOU.
Prayer Point: Let your word grow in me that my joy may be full.
