THE DEVIL IS A LIAR
Main text– John 8:44 – ‘…he was a murderer from the beginning not holding to the truth; for there is no truth in him, when he lies he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies’
Ephesians 6:11 – Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
From the above, Jesus depicts Satan as the father of lies. He holds himself as the one who wants to give us unfettered freedom and pleasure, carefully masking his plan to steal, kill and destroy us (John 10:10). He even spins the loving laws of God by claiming that God’s boundaries are restrictive, simply intended to take all the fun out of living. When we buy into his damaging lies, we will eventually find ourselves, empty, broken and side lined. This he did to our first parents- Adam and Eve at the Garden of Eden and broke their fellowship with God.
At Gethsemane, Jesus rebuked his disciples to watch and pray that they may not fall into the lie of Satan and sin. It is easy to sleep or become careless in our Christian walk, for the devil strikes when we are vulnerable. We need to be spiritually alert by being watchful and praying without ceasing, and then the spirit will enable us to resist him and his lies.
You can resist the devil by not dwelling on evil thoughts but on things that are true, honest, humble and pure (Philippians 4:8). With mental discipline and with the help of the Holy Spirit, you can keep your heart filled with godly thoughts.
DO NOT PERMIT SATAN A FOOTHOLD IN YOUR LIFE BECAUSE, HE WILL FROM A FOOTHOLD, BUILD A STRONGHOLD – HIS SPECIALIZATION.
Prayer Point: Oh Lord, help me to guard my mind/heart against the deceptions of the devil.
