THE ACCEPTABLE SACRIFICE

MAIN TEXT: 1 PETER 2:5 “Ye also as living stones are built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Christ Jesus”.

Romans 12:1 – Therefore I urge you brothers and sisters in view of God’s mercy to offer your bodies as living sacrifices holy and pleasing to God. This is your true and proper worship.

Revelation 1:6 declares us kings and priests unto God. We are a royal priesthood whose duty is to offer acceptable sacrifices to God. The God whom we serve and offer our sacrifices to is a holy and excellent God and if our sacrifices must be accepted by Him, then it must meet His standard..

As royal priesthood, we are to offer our lives first. The sacrifice of our bodies belongs to God and which He bought with the blood of His Son. 1 Peter 1:18-19

We are to live holy lives by abstaining from everything that defiles. We are to offer sacrificial love to God and our fellow men, which is expressed in sacrificial service and giving. In the face of troubles and trial, we can also offer God the sacrifice of praise and worship; the sacrifice of thanks from a grateful heart. If God must accept our sacrifice, then it must be holy and it must come from a holy life. Malachi 2:13-16. It must also be offered with a right motive from a pure and sincere heart. It must be done out of love, passion and zeal for God without complain, murmuring or grumbling and without holding back.

If God must accept our sacrifice, then it must be the best we have to offer and nothing less; without spot, blemish and wrinkle. Next time you are in God’s services or giving to God, ask yourself, “Is this the best that God deserves”?
