LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE
MAIN TEXT: MATTHEW. 5:16, “Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your father in heaven”.
EPHESIANS 2:10, “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works which God prepared in advance for us to do”.
Where there is no purpose, abuse is inevitable. It is usually the manufacturer of a certain product that gives it the name and purpose. People don’t just manufacture things; they do so out of need. The purpose of a thing tells us the need it solves. As Christians we are God’s new creatures, God’s workmanship, created after the likeness of Christ Jesus to fulfil and solve the same purpose and problems that Christ Jesus did while He was here on earth.
God did not save us from sin for nothing, but He saved and called us with the purpose of doing good works. If our purpose on earth is to do good works, it means that our world is in need of good works. Our friends, family members, colleagues, are in need of salvation, deliverance, healing, breakthrough etc.
Acts 10:38 tells us that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth and He went about doing good, healing the sick and casting out devils. In the same way, God has saved and anointed us, not for us to sit and warm the chairs, not for us to feel the goose pimples, fall under anointing, speak in tongues and go home feeling good. But He has called us to go about like Christ and do good works, heal the sick, raise the dead, cast out demons, put smile on people’s faces, show kindness and love, because that is what our world needs.
It is only in doing so that we will be fulfilling our God given purpose to His glory, because men will see our good works and glorify Him. It is only in fulfilling this purpose that we will be rewarded as God rewards the services that makes an eternal positive impact on a person’s life.
