TEACH ME YOUR PATHS
Main Text: Psalm 25:4 – Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths.
Genesis 12:1 – Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee.
In our main text, David made a simple prayer to God for him to be guided towards His path. He was obviously concerned about God’s path. He loved the Lord so much that he wanted God’s guidance to stay on the path that pleased God.
He did not want his life to bring shame to God but glory. Due to his act of love for God, he was named a man after God’s heart. You may be asking yourself right now, how do I know the path of God? You know the path of God by immersing yourself in God’s truth which is the word of God. Whatever He instructs you to do in His word; you go ahead and do it. It is only when you trust Him that he can step in and teach you His path. God didn’t give Abraham a detailed map or even show him the exact final destination. He basically said, “Abram, leave your father’s house and go where I will show you.”
However, God also added that he would bless him and his descendants if he obeyed him. Abraham didn’t know where he would end up, but he knew and trusted God’s character, so he obeyed anyway. Abraham’s obedience happened one step at a time. With each step, Abraham heard a little more from God. Along His path, you are safe because He walks with you. Along His path, you are hedged in front and behind and God places His hand on you.
WHEN YOU TRUST HIM, HE STEPS IN TO TEACH YOU HIS PATH.
Prayer Point: O Lord! Order my steps towards the paths of righteousness.
