CHAINS ARE BROKEN
Main text: Acts 16:26 – suddenly there was a great earthquake so that the foundations of the prison were shaken, and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loss.
Psalm 107:14 – He brought them out of the darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their chains in pieces.
Chains are obvious symbols of imprisonment. In physical terms, they resist us, hold us down, back and signify our captive state. In spiritual terms, they do more or less the same. Afflictions and habits that we just can’t seem to shake can feel like prison where we are chained to the very thing we want freedom from.
While many of us do not experience physical chains, some are by no means immune to the impact of spiritual chains which harm spiritual growth. The bible featured numerous stories of chain breaking situations. These chains can be demons, sickness, sin etc. and these stories are to encourage us and build our faith about what God can do for us today.
Jesus has come to set us free and destroy the chains that bind us.
Beloved, what kind of chain is holding you down? You may be going through addictions and habits which have become difficult to overcome. You may be feeling the pain of some chains holding you that need to be broken.
You may be discouraged, depressed and stagnated. There is good news for you. Despite the fact that you may feel like you are in a prison with no way out, you have a promise from God that He can cut through the bars of iron that seem so strong and powerful in your life. Believe in the word of God and cry out to the Lord for help.
Jabez cried out to the Lord for increase and to keep him from evil and God granted him what he prayed for (1 Chronicles 4:10). Hannah also prayed to the Lord for help as she was going through the season of barrenness and the Lord heard her cry (1 Samuel 1:10). Today, God will hear you as you cry out to Him and break that chain of limitation and setbacks.
