MY GOD IS ABLE
MAIN TEXT: Genesis 17:1
“And when Abram was ninety years old the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect”.
Psalm 147:5- Great is our Lord and of great power; his understanding is infinite.
El Shaddai means God Almighty, the God who can do the impossible. He is Almighty, all powerful. The scripture is punctuated with references to God’s Omnipotence from beginning to end. He is the Lord strong and mighty Psalm 24:8. Power belongs to Him- Psalm 62:11.. He wants us to know Him as the God who is able to do all things.
When God promised Abraham and Sarah a son in their old ages, Sarah laughed. Then He (God) added, “Is anything too difficult for the Lord?” And He finally did, “being fully assured that what He had promised, He was able to also perform”. Romans 4:21. In other words, they grasped the truth of God’s Omnipotence.
If we really want to know the omnipotent God intimately and experientially, we ought to think through some of the things He is able to do. See Mathew 9: 28, Jesus turned and asked, do you believe that I am able to do this? Jesus may be asking you the same question today.
It was Max Lucado who declared “God has enough grace to solve every dilemma you face, wipe every tear you cry, and answer every question you ask”. Today do you believe in God’s ability?
There is no deficiency in His power.
