SEEK GOD’S FACE
MAIN TEXT: 2 CHRONICLES 7:14, “If my people which are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven…”
PSALM 27:8, “My heart says of you, “seek His face”. Your face Lord I will seek.
The word ‘seek’ suggests that the object being sought after is hidden and is of great importance to the one seeking. When we seek God, we seek His presence, His face, His opinion, His word, His will and His hand to be made manifest in the issues of our lives. It is humility to seek God because in so doing, we acknowledge that we cannot live or do anything without Him, hence we seek Him.
If the Lord is to be found by our seeking then our hearts must be sincere and pure before Him. There must be no deception or guile in us. We are to seek Him wholeheartedly. In humility we must purge our hearts of envy, strife, jealousy and every other sin that cover the eyes of our hearts. Only the pure in heart, seek and see God.
If we must seek and see God, we must also quicken our spirit to hear Him. We are to silence the voices of the flesh, Satan, doubt, fear, worry and unbelief, so that we can hear God’s voice of victory as we seek Him.
God is our ever present help in times of need. We can seek the Lord in quietness, in the place of meditation and in the place of prayer and fasting. He already promised that when we seek Him with all our hearts, He will be found.
