BEAR GOOD FRUIT
MAIN TEXT: John 15:16 – You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.
Colossians 1:10 –
So as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.
Fruit-bearing is the act of doing good works by obeying the teachings of the Bible. In the context of John 15, fruit refers to good works. Bearing fruit is indispensable in a Christian’s life. God so required it of us
A branch must stay firmly attached to the trunk to stay alive. As disciples of Christ, we must stay firmly connected to Him to remain spiritually productive. A branch draws strength, nourishment, protection, and energy from the vine.
The fruit of the Spirit can only come forth in me by the power of the Spirit. No amount of self-effort will bear spiritual fruit. It requires a total surrender of my self-will to God so that I can obey Jesus’ words in the daily situations of life, in order for the fruit of the Spirit to come forth instead of my own nature.
GOD EXPECTS GOOD FRUITS FROM US
PRAYER: In Jesus’ name, Lord make me fruitful always so that Christ will be glorified in my life. I am not spiritually barren, Holy Spirit strengthen me now.
