THAT STILL SMALL VOICE

MAIN TEXT: 1 Kings 19:12-13 And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.
And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?

James 4:8, “Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.”

So many times we have sought for God where He is not. There could be much activities happening around the places but it is not a proof of God’s presence. Elijah fixed his mind on the activities and almost missed God. We have fixed our minds on the wind, earthquake and fire , almost frustrated without knowing that God has been speaking in unpredictable manner to us – May we find Him today.

The point of God speaking in the still small voice was to show Elijah that the work of God need not always be accompanied by dramatic revelation or manifestations. Divine silence does not necessarily mean divine inactivity. Zechariah 4:6 tells us that God’s work is “not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,” meaning that overt displays of power are not necessary for God to work.

If there’s stillness and quiet in your heart, you will be able to hear God’s whisper there. If we can silence the loud voices of the world, those meant to distract us and steer us off course, to confuse us or fill us with anxiety and worry, we’ll find the peace that only comes from Jesus.

BE STILL TO HEAR HIS STILL SMALL VOICE

PRAYER: God recover me wherever I have missed it and let my heart understand your leading in Jesus name Amen
