GLORY IN THE CROSS 1

MAIN TEXT-Ephesians 2:14—For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility

Galatians 6:14—But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

Christianity is anchored on the cross. When Jesus Christ took up to the cross, He carried all the world’s problems and when He died on the cross, He crucified and judged them all. We all reconciled unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enemy there.

The cross brought us peace, life, healing, and restoration of all that we lost, as we now have access to God by His Spirit through the finished work on the cross. Have you been to the cross? It is the cross that draws us closer to God and perfects all that concerns us in Christ. The cross saves, sanctifies and protects, we are no longer strangers or foreigners but fellow citizens with the saints and family of God.

The genuine encounter with the cross of Christ gives us the spirit of humility – we cannot have that encounter without being broken. Let your boasting, be in the Lord. Do not be an enemy of the cross because there is great gain and glory in it. When you desire the blessing of Jesus Christ, then you must acknowledge His work for you at the cross. That is the heart of the gospel and the center of the church’s mission.

THE ENCOUNTER WITH THE CROSS IS BEYOND PLACING A CROSS ON YOUR CHEST

PRAYER: My Lord Jesus Christ, let the glory of the cross manifest in me. Let the finished work of Christ Jesus live in me. AMEN
