DON’T SHIFT GROUNDS
MAIN TEXT- 1 Corinthians 9:24—Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it.
2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith
When the direction is wrong, the speed is useless, it is not how fast but how well, it is not the beginning but the end that matters. These are saying that are meant to keep us on the right track in the race of life. Every game has its rules and for a race, one of its rules is that you must maintain your lane. Hitting the final line first in another man’s lane is only a waste of time and energy as the rule of the game have been broken; hence the price is denied.
As children of God, our heavenly race is a race that must be run on the track of holiness and righteousness. Any church attendance, paying of tithe, given of offerings and alms will be a waste of time and resources if we do not run according to the guiding rules to run the heavenly race.
As an individual, God has also called you to a particular ministry or area of service, with a specific instruction on what to do and how to do it. You are not to look at others, whether they are working or not. You are not to compare yourself to others, whether they are ahead or better than you. Furthermore, you are to run in your lane, stay at your post and keep doing what the Master has commanded you to do, that is when your reward will come.
RUN TO OBTAIN REWARDS FROM GOD
PRAYER: I will not miss my eternal rewards as I serve God. Holy Spirit, help me to get it right and restore me where I have missed it in Jesus’ name, Amen.
