INTENTIONALLY THANK GOD
MAIN TEXT: PSALM 136:1 – Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever.
1 Thessalonians 5:18—Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
“Gratitude brings peace to our minds. It helps us get through challenging days gracefully. By being grateful every day, we learn to see how strong but also vulnerable we are. There should be that something good to celebrate in every day, no matter how small.” How thankful are you about what God is doing for you? Our gratitude glorifies God, as we exalt not the gifts, but the Giver.
Thanksgiving helps us realize all we have comes not because of us, but from God. A Scottish minister, Alexander Whyte was known for his uplifting prayers in the pulpit. He always found something for which to be grateful. One Sunday morning, the weather was so gloomy that one church member thought to himself, “Certainly the preacher won’t think of anything for which to thank the Lord on a wretched day like this.” Much to his surprise, however, Whyte began by praying, “We thank Thee, O God, that it is not always like this.”
You have tried prayers, and this is that season to use the weapon of Praise to God. Intentionally give thanks to God for a week with praise, and you will see how powerful it is. This spiritual formula doesn’t fail.

PRAYER: I thank you, God, for everything and how much love you have for me. I bless your name because you know how best to deal with the enemies and their attacks. I am grateful for the victories that I am yet to see, in Jesus’ name Amen.
