HIS MERCY KEEPS ME GOING
MAIN TEXT: Psalm 124:2-3 if the Lord had not been on our side when people attacked us, they would have swallowed us alive when their anger flared against us;
Psalm 136:26—O give thanks unto the God of heaven: for his mercy endureth forever.
Helen Baylor composed this song of thanks from the scripture, “If it had not been, for the Lord on my side. Tell me where would I be? Where would I be? If it had not been for the Lord on my side. Tell me where would I be? Where would I be?
He kept my enemies away,
He let the sun shine through a cloudy day,
He wrapped me in the cradle of his arms,
When he knew I’ve been battered and scarred.”
In the face of obstacles and terrible happenings around us, if not for God’s mercies, the enemies would have rejoiced over us. There were moments we had it to our neck, and we expected the worst to happen, but somehow God showed up and rescued us. It is His mercy that has kept us going on. This kind of God, there’s none like Him.
I feel obligated to tell you that when you’ve tried everything and nothing seems to work, I’ve got a friend you ought to try. Oh, what a friend we have in Jesus Christ. Come to Him and He will give you real peace.
PRAYER: O Lord God, show me more of your mercies and grace to accomplish my destiny in Jesus’ name, Amen.
