GUARD YOUR HEART

GUARD YOUR HEART

Main text: Proverbs 4:23 – ‘Keep thy heart with all diligence for out of it are the issues of life’

‘Hear thou my son and be wise and guide thine heart in the way’ – Proverbs 23:19

The heart of a Christian is a very sensitive and so should be guarded. The spirit of God ministers to our hearts and the devil if given a chance deceives us and fills our hearts with evil thoughts. Our hearts will always be coloured by the attitude of our hearts. Jesus said, ‘The mouth speaks out that which fills the heart’ (Matthew 12:34). He also said in Mark 7:21 – ‘Out of the heart of men, proceed evil thought’.  Again He said, ‘Pure in heart shall see God’ – Matthew 5:8.

From the heart the mouth speaks, the eyes see and the mind thinks. Proverbs 4:23 tell us to diligently guard our hearts for ‘out of (the heart) spring the issues life’. Beloved, it is good that you diligently filter what flows into your heart because out of it determines what becomes of your destiny. Fill your heart with faith filled words rather than negative thoughts that surround you in your environment Life as we perceive it is based upon the condition of our heart.

This is very important because the gifts of the spirit must pass through our hearts before they are presented to the world around us. If our hearts are not right, the gifts will not be right either. When the heart is restless, it cannot hear from God. We must learn to weigh our judgment especially when we are angry. We should at all times allow the peace of God rule in our hearts (Colossians 3:15).

TRUE DISCERNMENT EMERGES FROM A PURE HEART
