COMPLACENCY CAN DESTROY

COMPLACENCY CAN DESTROY

Main Text: Proverbs 1:32 – for the waywardness of the simple will kill them but the complacency of fools will destroy them.

Zephaniah 1:12 – It will come about at that time that I will search Jerusalem with lamps, and I will punish the man who are stagnant in spirit who say in their hearts, the Lord will not do good or evil.

Complacency, according to Cambridge dictionary is a feeling of calm satisfaction with your own abilities or situation that prevents you from trying harder. Biblically, complacency is feeling satisfied with the current state and to be declined to try to make things better. Being satisfied especially when accompanied by unawares of actual dangers.

To be comfortable and secure is not the worst thing in the world right? It means you’re doing something right, and you should stay on that path. Think again, not wanting to move forward in life and advance yourself is the most common and detrimental mistake you can make in today’s world. Being complacent can be dangerous. It grows out of a false security that creates a lukewarm faith. Rev 3:16 reminds us that ” so because you are lukewarm, and neither hot or cold, I am going to vomit you out of my mouth”. That’s not a pleasant thought.

Complacency can only be broken off of our lives by effort. It is through walking in the spirit, binding and restricting actions of our flesh (Gal 5:16) that we can move forward in the life that Christ has called us to live. The Holy Spirit can convict you, but it’s your job to get up and activate on the instructions He gives you.

COMPLACENCY IS A SURE WAY TOMEDIOCRITY

Prayer Point: Father, help me to overcome complacency through the power of the Holy Spirit.
