Flee From Sin

Flee From Sin

Main Text: 1 Timothy 6:11 “But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness”.

Romans 6:12 – Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lust therefore

It was George Knight who pointed out that Paul always uses flee in relation to particular sins, not sin in general. His concern then is to warn you about those sins that are especially attractive and already. The bible actually told us to flee from sins, such as sexual immorality. (See 1 Corinthians 6:18), idolatry (See 1 Corinthians 10:14). Some sins are so strong and so dangerous that you simply cannot mess around with them. You cannot tangle with these sins and hope to emerge unscathed.

Paul’s letter to Timothy he wrote, ‘those who desire to be rich fall into temptations and into snares….. But as for you O man of God, flee these things’ (see 1 Timothy 6:9-11). You are to flee materialism, the desire to be rich and to be known and respected for what you have accumulated and full of pride. And, more generally “flee youthful lust” (2 Timothy 2:22).

In this year of Destiny fulfillment; Flee! Flee!! Flee!!! This is a strong word, and the bible did not tell you to amble, meander, or trot with sin, but Flee!. Remember. Fleeing involves effort. It involves straining. It involves speed. Take to your heel and run for your life.

SIN IS A DESTROYER, FLEE FROM IT!

Prayer Point: Oh God, have mercy on me. Deliver me form secret sins in Jesus name.
