ALWAYS WEAR THE BREAST PLATE
Main Text – Ephesians 6:14
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth and having on the breast plate of righteousness.
1 Thessalonians 5:8 – But since we are of the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope of salvation.
Our Christian journey is like a battle. This is a battle between the forces of darkness and the forces of light which are the soldiers of Jesus Christ. Though we are sure of victory in this battle, we must engage in the struggle until Jesus Christ returns.
For Christians to be successful in this spiritual battle Paul mentions battle amour or gear, to be worn by the Christians. This amour includes the “breastplate” of righteousness .The breastplate worn by the soldier’s protects the soldier chest from attack of the enemy.
This breastplate signifies righteousness that springs from justification and true holiness. It is implanted in the heart and life that is regularly by God himself. It is the right standing with God. And the wearer is able to stand in God’s presence, free from condemnation without fear, without sense of guilt or inferiority.
The physical breastplate protects the heart and chest cavity of the soldier. Likewise when Christ lives or dwell in your hearts the breastplate of righteousness is right inside for protection.
The enemy cannot come through so long as the breastplate is on. With this breastplate of righteousness, Christians can enter the throne of grace boldly and receive grace and mercy to use in time of need (HEB 4:16).
BE FULLY EQUIPPED WITH GOD’S WEAPONS OF WARFARE IN ORDER TO LIVE A VICTORIOUS CHRISTIAN LIFE.
