MY SOUL MAGNIFY THE LORD
Main Text:- Psalm 8:1 – O Lord, Our Lord, how excellent is your name in all the earth.
Psalm 108:1 – My heart, O God, is steadfast; I will sing and make music with all my soul.
Mary, the mother of our Lord Jesus Christ sang a song to God as praise for His blessings to her, announcing her as the mother of the savior of the world and what He was going to do for the world through her. This song in popular Christian circles is called “the magnificent” because the first verse says “my soul magnify the Lord” There is always a time in our life to glorify and praise God for what He has done for us.
A time of gratefulness to the Almighty. Hannah in her own praise in (1Sam 2: 1-10) recognized God as; A solid rock (vs. 2) , one who knows what we do (vs.3) , one who is sovereign over the affairs of men (vs. 4-8) and the supreme judge who administers perfect justice (vs. 10) Remembering God’s sovereign control, helps us put both world and personal events in perspective.
The possessions that we work so hard to obtain will all pass away but God is always present. Hope in Him for He will never fail you. Taking an example from Mary and Hannah, let us praise God, the One who helps the stars and planets’ spinning on their unseen course.
Let us magnify Him, the One who gives us the mysteries of the oceans, the rugged beauty of the mountains and the intrinsic marvels of plant and animal life. Let us exalt and magnify Him, the One who made us and crowned us with glory and honour.
O LORD, HOW EXCELLENT IS YOUR NAME IN ALL THE EARTH.
Prayer : Heavenly Father, help me to remember that you are God always and magnify thee, from everlasting to everlasting.
