RIGHTEOUSNESS PROFITS

MAIN TEXT: Hebrews 1:8
But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God is forever and ever, a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of thy kingdom

2 Timothy 2:12 – If we suffer, we shall also reign with him; if we deny him, he will deny us

Righteousness is an investment with incredible long term result. Jesus was the happiest man on earth because He loved righteousness. Righteousness comes with a lot of benefits if only we can patiently hold on to it.

Let’s consider some benefits of righteousness. Joy and satisfaction; In a simple form, to be righteous is to do what is right and good for one’s future. That is why being righteous can have an appearance of disadvantage in the moment, because it seems hard to make the right choice. Righteousness brings satisfaction and is investment for the future. This means the bedrock of lasting prosperity is righteousness.

Righteousness breaks down our destructive human self. In essence, righteousness breaks down our self will in submission to God and that is the incredible benefit and goal for a disciple, to have the same mindset that Jesus had when he came to this world (Hebrew 10:7, Luke 22:42). This makes a way for us to have our eternal home with Jesus Christ.

Through righteousness, Perfect unity and harmony with every single person is achieved and conflicts between people can be resolved. Peace is achieved if the nation is a righteous nation even in the family.

RIGHTEOUSNESS IS WHAT WILL RULE IN ETERNITY, IT IS THE CATALYST FOR GROWTH, IT IS THE CULTURE IN GOD’S KINGDOM.

Prayer: Most Holy God, give me the grace to be holy even as you are Holy. Let the righteousness of Christ be the life that I will live from now.
