FROM DOUBT TO FAITH

Main Text: Ephesians 6:13 -Therefore take up the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Psalm 126:6 – He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing seed for sowing, Shall doubtless come again with joy, bringing his sheaves with him.

Some Christians at times wonder and doubt whether the bible can be trusted. Somebody like the Scottish reformer John Knox confessed that he passed through a dark time when his soul was filled with “anger, wrath and indignation which it conceived against God, calling all its promises in doubt till God came through for him”.
At other times, people wonder if God really exists. There could be those moments that we are so filled with questions that make us feel like unbelievers. Martin Luther sadly admitted “for more than a week Christ was wholly lost. I was shaken in desperation and blasphemy against God”.

Don’t be surprised if you pass through similar struggles and thoughts. As followers of Christ, we are in conflict with God’s enemy – the devil, who is the father of lies (John 8:44).
Two of the pieces of armour God has provided for us when we’re attacked by Doubt are “TRUTH” and the “SHIELD OF FAITH”. They can “quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one” (Ephesians 6: 14-16).
Let us therefore saturate our minds with God’s Word, so that our FAITH will be strengthened.

BE ABLE TO STAND WHEN DOUBTS ASSAIL US, WITH ALL MANNER OF PRAYERS IN THE SPIRIT.

Prayer – Holy God, when doubts and fears seem to overwhelm me, help me remember I am precious in your sight. You are always in control and you care for me.
