GRACE FOR EXPLOITS 1
MAIN TEXT: ZECHARIAH 4:6 ‘’So he said to me, ‘This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the LORD Almighty.
‘’I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.’’ John 15:5
Grace is the supernatural endowment of God through Christ to restore to man the lost divine power, enablement, capacity and authority to carry out God’s mandate and fulfil his purpose on earth.
Grace is an acronym for ‘God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense.’ There is no exploit (astonishing success or victory) recorded in scriptures done by God’s people that was wrought by natural (carnal) means or methods or weapons, but by the Holy Spirit. We must therefore henceforth allow the Holy Spirit to do through us what we cannot do on our own rather than trusting more on our human intellect, wisdom, expertise, resources, efforts, ability, weapons, etc. Grace simply means relying on God to do his work through you.
Grace pulls you through where human strength cannot take you. Grace takes you beyond your limitation. Human strength is not relevant in our battle with the powers of darkness. That is why God had to remind Zerubbabel to rely on him (God) alone. Zerubbabel probably was trying to use his own power to do God’s work but made no head way, and then God told him that it was neither by power nor by might but by God’s Spirit.
