SELF DISCIPLINE

MAIN TEXT: Proverbs 25:28 – Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control.”

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” – 2 Timothy 1:7

What exactly is self-discipline? It’s the ability to control your impulses, emotions, reactions and behaviors; it allows you to forego short-term gratification in favor of long-term satisfaction and gain. Success in business requires self discipline.

Stop making excuses. Don’t wait for tomorrow; do it now. Quit telling yourself something is too hard or that you can’t change. Don’t blame other people for your circumstances. Excuse-making is the killer of self-discipline. Achieve more by adopting an “I can do this” mindset.

As Christians, it is not just sin that must be laid aside, but also “every encumbrance.” These include things that may be good, but they keep you from reaching your goal. Some habits that we must let go so we have good success. We can’t want to enjoy all the pleasures of life. There’s time for everything and wisdom is profitable to direct.

UNTIL YOU GET IT RIGHT, YOU CAN’T DO IT RIGHT

PRAYER: Holy Spirit, help me to live right and be disciplined in my life’s pursuit to success in Jesus name Amen.
