POWER TO WITNESS

Main Text: John 1:7 – The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through Him might believe

There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which He witnesseth of me is true – John 5:32 (KJV)

From our main text, it explains that Christ came as a witness (John 3:16) to tell us about the Love of God and by so doing, we shall have the hope of eternal life: If God hasn’t sent Christ to redeem man from sin and its destruction, we all would have perished. In every dispensation, in order to save a people, God will send a witness, an instrument of use in His hand for the sake of redeeming His people.

By witnessing, we are talking about testifying the power in the name and blood of Jesus Christ. God has conferred on us the authority and power to stand boldly and testify or share the gospel of truth: ‘For God has not given us the spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind’ – 2 Timothy 1:7.

In order to be good witnesses of Jesus Christ, we must show love and recognize that we have the support of the Holy Spirit: ‘you are not alone’. When we go out to witness, we are expected to only speak the truth in the word of God. Just as it happened with the disciples of Jesus, Peter stood and preached about the love of the Christ and the significance of His coming and 3,000 and 5,000 accepted Jesus Christ. You also have the ability and power to witness and fulfil the scripture of our second text – John 5:32.

REMEMBER, GOD SAVED YOU SO THAT THROUGH YOU OTHERS WILL BE SAVED

Prayer: Jesus Christ, give me the boldness to be a good witness about your love and the power in your name.
